BIOGRAPHIES
Gene Burns - Writer/Director/Actor/Casting Agent
“You are too short to be an actor.” That has not stopped 5'8” Gene Burns. The actor from
San Marcos, Texas got his break as he was fulfilling the role of guardian-tag-along to an audition for
his five-year-old daughter, Brittany Autumn; the “short” father was asked to audition, too,
and landed the lead role. Gene officially became the “short” actor. Since then Gene has
had success fulfilling roles in feature films (Friday Night Lights, Newton Boys, Desdemona and the
recently wrapped 2:22) as well as a whole host of national commercials and print ads. After spending
sixteen years as a professional actor, Gene is now stepping behind the camera to direct “Ruth's Locket”
the compelling screenplay also written by “the short actor.”
Juli Dearrington - Producer/Actor
Juli began acting in community theatre during junior high, but it wasn’t until she moved to the Texas Hill
Country that her passion for acting grew. She put her acting on hold for a while to nurture her youngest
son’s career [Bryan Chafin, “The Patriot” (2000), “Jumping Off Bridges” (2007)].
During this time she met her musical partner to form “Destination” an Andrews Sisters Revue
of 1940s WWII era music. Juli sings professionally with the The Sentimental Journey Orchestra
(www.sjoswing.com) as one of its Memphis Belles all over the state of Texas. She continues to be very
active with community theatre and was last seen as Rizzo in The EmilyAnn Theatre’s 2010 production of
“Grease.” She has recently been in “Friday Night Lights” the upcoming fall
series “My Generation.” Juli will also be seen in the upcoming trilogy “Masters of the
Universe: Wizard of Stone Mountain” as The Sorceress. Juli is very excited to have just been signed with
Veronica Kelley-Albiez at DVA Talent (www.dvatalent.com) and looks for big things to come. She has worn
many hats in the theatre realm, but this is Juli’s first as Producer in this arena. She is honored to be working
with such an amazing cast and crew and on a production with such heart. She would like to thank her wonderful
husband, John, for being so supportive of her insane schedule!
